Workshop Schedule

Week 1

  • Kickoff Group Session (date session begins @ 10:30am)

    • Understand the Common App prompts

    • Learn what colleges are really looking for

    • Explore brainstorming techniques

    • Discuss essay structure and voice

  • Individual One-on-One Meeting

    • Each student will scheduled for an individual 45 minute meeting after the kickoff group session

    • Review brainstormed ideas

    • Choose a prompt and theme

    • Plan next steps for the first draft

Weeks 1–2 (guided independent work)

  • Structured writing exercises and deadlines for draft sections

  • Individual feedback on drafts

  • Strategies for developing narrative voice and clarity

  • Final polish on essay structure, language, and storytelling

  • By the end of the workshop, you will have a complete, polished Common App Personal Statement ready to submit
